Position Overview

The Department of Neurology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center located in Columbus, Ohio under the direction of Benjamin Segal, MD, Chair is recruiting BC/BE Neurohospitalists to complement our well‑established general and specialty neurologists. The Neurohospitalist will perform management of inpatients with neurological disorders including those in the emergency department, intensive care units, and consultation on those patients with neurological injury across a wide range of services within our medical center.

They will also participate in our Teleneurology program, offering neurology expertise to our community hospitals via telemedicine. Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience.

Department and Division Overview

The Department of Neurology at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC) consists of 15 specialized divisions, 63 physicians, 5 psychologists, 12 dedicated research faculty, 24 residents, and 14 fellows. We deliver unparalleled subspecialty care across all neurology disciplines, with services spanning 7 state‑of‑the‑art ambulatory facilities and 3 hospitals. The department operates 27 groundbreaking multidisciplinary and personalized clinics, 3 comprehensive inpatient consultation services, an 18‑bed neurocritical care unit, a 30‑bed stroke ward, and an expanding teleneurology service partnering with 7 regional hospitals.

Our telestroke network is among the largest in the nation, encompassing 32 affiliated hospitals. With over $15.5 million in annual research funding, OSU Neurology is at the forefront of discovering new biomarkers and therapeutic targets for neurological disorders. Our fundamental research portfolio focuses on neurogenetics, neuroimmunology and neuroregenerative medicine. Our pioneering Division of Neurology Health Services Research and Center for the Neurobiology of Aging and Resilience are trailblazers in the field.

This year alone, our faculty conducted over 320 clinical trials and studies, supported by a cutting‑edge biorepository and brain bank. We’re equally committed to education, offering 10 prestigious clinical fellowships and international training opportunities through the OSU Global Neurology Initiatives, with partner programs in Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America. In 2024, our Neurology Residency Program was ranked in the top 15th percentile nationwide on the Doximity Residency Navigator list.
