Position: Associate Department Chief for Academic Development

The Associate Department Chief for Academic Development (ADCAD) provides strategic leadership for faculty growth and academic advancement while maintaining an active clinical and research presence. The role includes approximately 40% administrative leadership, a minimum of 15% clinical service and up to 45% research effort. This position reports to David Axelson, MD, medical director, psychiatry, and Chief of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health, with administrative support from Josh Ebling.

If the selected candidate is a psychologist, clinical assignments will be coordinated with Eric Butter, PhD, Chief of Psychology.

Key leadership activities include:
  • Mentoring faculty on career development and promotion readiness.
  • Liaising with the Ohio State University (OSU) Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health on appointments, promotion and tenure (APT) matters.
  • Supporting recruitment efforts, annual faculty reviews, high-visibility media, donor engagement and national networking.
  • Delivering educational lectures and contributing to Grand Rounds, journal clubs and trainee recruitment.
Clinical & research expectations include:
  • Provide direct patient care within Nationwide Children’s Behavioral Health services to stay connected to provider and patient needs.
  • Offer case consultation in specialty areas.
  • Lead or collaborate on research studies as principal investigator or co-investigator, contributing to the department’s academic mission.
