Overview

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking an outstanding obstetrician-gynecologist for a full-time position within the Division of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Ideal candidates are board-certified or eligible physicians interested in resident education and direct patient care at an academic center. Members of the division supervise resident continuity clinics and gynecologic teaching services and provide in-hospital gynecologic consultation. They have an active role in medical student education.

The division has an active faculty practice at five outpatient sites and one labor and delivery facility, with providers including 26 obstetrician-gynecologists, four gynecologists, and 16 nurse-midwives. Faculty expertise includes minimally invasive surgery, family planning, vulvar disease, menopause, pediatric and adolescent gynecology, and breastfeeding.

The Wexner Medical Center at Ohio State University is a state-of-the-art tertiary care center with a planned new hospital opening in 2026. The Ohio State University College of Medicine graduates approximately 200 medical students per year. The obstetrics and gynecology residency program is integrated with the Mount Carmel Medical System and trains 11 residents per year. The metropolitan area is a growing community that houses the State Capital.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is a nationally recognized academic department dedicated to advancing women’s health through excellence in clinical care, education, research, and innovation. The department provides comprehensive, patient-centered care across the full spectrum of obstetrics and gynecology, serving women throughout all stages of life.

The department offers specialized services in general obstetrics and gynecology, maternal-fetal medicine, gynecologic oncology, urogynecology and pelvic reconstructive surgery, reproductive endocrinology and infertility, family planning, and women’s preventive health. Care is delivered across multiple clinical sites, including tertiary and qua ternary referral centers, ensuring access to advanced treatments and multidisciplinary expertise.

As a core academic department within a leading public research university, OB/GYN at Ohio State is deeply committed to medical education and training. The department supports robust residency and fellowship programs, providing comprehensive clinical exposure, mentorship, and opportunities for scholarly development. Faculty members are actively engaged in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows while contributing to national educational initiatives.

Research is a cornerstone of the department’s mission, with faculty leading and participating in basic, translational, and clinical research aimed at improving outcomes in women’s health. Requirements
  • MD or DO or equivalent
  • Successful completion of an accredited residency training program
  • Board certified or eligible by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology
  • Eligible for State of Ohio medical license
  • Qualify for an academic appointment at the assistant or associate professor level – Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with previous training and experience
