Position: Endowed Chair – Functional Medicine Physician | Integrative Medicine The Ohio State University [...]

The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Wexner Medical Center seeks an exceptional Functional Medicine Physician to join our Center for Integrative Health, practice functional medicine, and lead the development of an innovative integrative primary care service line.

The Center for Integrative Health’s vision is to strengthen collaborations with specialties—Oncology, Long COVID, Women’s Health, Neurology, etc.—and create a hybrid role that combines 60% clinical practice with 40% strategic administrative responsibilities. The successful candidate will take a patient‑centered, individualized, science‑based approach to address root causes of chronic disease rather than isolated symptoms.

Opportunity Overview

It combines conventional medicine with complementary therapies to support optimal health across the lifespan. The multidisciplinary team offers services such as acupuncture, chiropractic care, functional and lifestyle medicine, integrative nutrition, osteopathic manipulative treatment, mind‑body medicine, massage therapy, and personalized wellness consultations.

The clinical component focuses on direct patient care and comprehensive health management.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide patient education, empowering informed decision‑making about their health.
  • Adapt treatment plans based on individual patient needs, goals, and response to interventions.
  • Maintain comprehensive, up‑to‑date patient records for continuity of care.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare providers and support staff to deliver integrated, coordinated care.
Administrative Responsibilities

  • Create comprehensive patient assessment and treatment frameworks combining functional medicine principles with conventional standards.
  • Manage administrative tasks—scheduling, record management, and communication with patients and referring providers.
  • Oversee quality assurance and patient satisfaction metrics; participate in staff training to ensure consistent delivery of functional medicine principles.
  • Collaborate with center leadership on operational procedures, resource allocation, and strategic goals for service line growth.
  • Contribute to research, quality improvement initiatives, and outcomes tracking to demonstrate effectiveness.
  • Mentor clinical and administrative staff in functional medicine approaches and best practices.
