The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek a PhD or MD/PhD researcher to join the Department of Surgery, Division of Vascular Surgery. Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience.
Position OverviewThe Division of Vascular Diseases and Surgery within Department of Surgery at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is recruiting an open rank research faculty member at the PhD level. Funded researchers with backgrounds in basic, clinical, or decision science related to vascular disease will be considered. Candidates are expected to have an established research program. This opportunity will take advantage of collaborative relationships within the Division of Vascular Diseases & Surgery, the Department of Surgery, the Heart and Vascular Center, the Davis Heart and Lung Institute, and the University to develop translational multidisciplinary projects.
DutiesAnd Responsibilities
- Conceptualize, plan, design, implement, and conduct research studies; develop and write grant proposals to seek and obtain extramural funding to support research program; obtain and maintain NIH R01 or equivalent funding.
- Write and publish research in high quality peer reviewed scientific journals; attend and make presentations of research at national and international scientific conferences; develop national and international scholarly reputation.
- Instruct and mentor junior scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students, medical students, residents and fellow trainees; participate in department, college and university committees and initiatives.
- PhD or MD/PhD in an applicable field
- Postdoctoral research experience in basic science research
- Proven ability to write scientific reports and publish in peer‑reviewed journals preferred
- Current, active extramural grant funding (equivalent to NIH R01)
- Academic experience a plus
- Qualify for academic appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Professor level – Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with previous training and experience
