Position: Physician  Department of Neurology, Movement Disorders (Open Rank/Track Faculty)

Overview

Physician Department of Neurology, Movement Disorders (Open Rank/Track Faculty) – The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek a Movement Disorders Clinical Faculty to join the Department of Neurology. The ideal candidate will be a fellowship-trained movement neurologist to join a clinical team of 3 movement disorder physicians and 4 movement-trained APPs.

The Ohio State University Center for Parkinson’s Disease and Other Movement Disorders has been recognized as a Parkinson’s Foundation Comprehensive Care Center providing a multidisciplinary team that includes specialized advanced practice providers, a social worker, a genetic counsellor, a neuropsychologist, palliative care neurologist, physical, occupational and speech therapists. Our division continues to expand its subspecialty clinics and clinical/translational research opportunities are available.

Applicants at all academic ranks are encouraged to apply, but the current position may be best suited for a junior to mid-career candidate.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Evaluation and treatment of new and return movement disorders patients
  • Supervising trainees in movement disorders assessments – including medical students, residents and fellows
  • Develop partnerships with referring physicians and hospitals in the community
  • Clinical and some didactic teaching is expected
Requirements
  • MD or equivalent
  • Completed 1 or more years of movement disorders fellowship
  • Current Board certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (or board eligible if within two years of residency)
  • Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Ohio (or the ability to obtain prior to appointment)
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary academic environment that includes medical students, residents and advanced practice providers
  • Outstanding clinical teaching skills, bedside manner and professionalism
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills
