The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center are seeking applications for a tenure‑track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The focus is on research in acute and chronic pain mechanisms and therapeutic management, with an emphasis on leading a cutting‑edge research program that complements existing departmental activities. Successful candidates will have already established a highly competitive independent research program or will have otherwise demonstrated the clear potential to do so.
The successful candidate will engage with a collaborative research community and contribute to the academic life of the department and institution through mentoring, teaching, and service commensurate with the level of appointment.
Ohio State’s Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is nationally known for its comprehensive, multidisciplinary rehabilitation education and training. The department has long experience caring for patients with traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke, and other neurological conditions. It receives significant research funding and partners with other OSU schools for interdisciplinary research.
Duties and Responsibilities- Lead and maintain a cutting‑edge extramurally funded research program in acute and chronic pain mechanisms and therapeutic management.
- Collaborate with faculty across OSU, including the College of Medicine, Engineering, Nursing, and Public Health.
- Mentor and instruct students and postdoctoral fellows.
- Contribute to university and community service.
- Engage in teaching responsibilities as needed by the department.
- PhD, MD, or equivalent higher degree.
- Demonstrated record of scholarly excellence with influential research publications.
- Record or promise of substantial extramural funding.
- Strong candidates are expected to have research, service and teaching excellence and must provide research, teaching and service statements indicating how their expertise, knowledge and skills have prepared them for this position.
