Primary Position Duties
  • Provide job-embedded coaching, professional development, and technical assistance to district/building/teacher teams on the implementation/monitoring of improvement efforts.
  • Support school districts, buildings, and community schools in the analysis of local data to identify critical needs through the One Needs Assessment, and in the development of continuous improvement strategies and action steps through the One Plan using ODEW's ED STEPS application.
  • Provide professional development, coaching, and technical assistance on topics including instructional leadership, research-based instructional strategies, specially designed instruction for students with disabilities, language and literacy development or high-quality math instruction, and other topics related to closing achievement gaps.
  • Collect and document evidence of implementation and impact of work with districts and buildings according to processes outlined by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.
  • Assist in documenting the work of the State Support Team and analyzing district/regional data to determine ongoing support needs.

Job Duties
  • Assist districts, schools and families with questions and concerns.
  • Uphold Board policies and follow administrative guidelines and procedures.
  • Advise teaching and administrative staff in curriculum development, use of materials and equipment and implementation of state and federal programs and procedures.
  • Use data analysis skills to compare/contrast test scores, school district evaluations and student achievement data.
  • Provide professional learning and technical assistance to districts.
  • Interpret and enforce provisions of state education laws, rules, and regulations of state education boards.
  • Research, evaluate, and prepare recommendations on curricula, instructional methods, and materials for school districts.
  • Use a computer to prepare and process information (input, compile, tabulate, post, store, retrieve, scan, modify, print, etc.).
  • Assist with internal team assignments and/or special projects as directed.
  • Stay up to date on current research, programs, data trends, educational news, and laws/regulations.
  • Keep current with advances in office technology.
  • Cross-train with other staff as directed and offer assistance when needed.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional growth opportunities as directed.
  • Provide technical assistance that helps families and district personnel in cooperatively addressing potential contentious issues prior to filing a formal complaint.
  • Serve as SST Consultant and have a general awareness and understanding of all aspects of SST work with the goal of collaboration and integration of work across all areas of focused support provided to school personnel and families in support of improved learning and outcomes.
  • Perform other specific job-related duties as directed by the Superintendent/designee.
  • Perform other specific job-related duties as directed by the SST Director.
Qualifications
  • A master's degree in education, special education, early childhood education, education administration or a related field, or evidence of equivalency.
  • Three to five years of classroom teaching, instructional improvement planning and implementation, special education administration, school counseling, school social work or related experience, and a license appropriate to the individual's profession.
  • Expertise and/or significant leadership experience in several of the following areas:
    • Data analysis, including data-based decision making and a thorough understanding of Ohio's accountability system.
    • Evidence-based processes and instructional practices, including development and implementation of academic and behavior supports.
    • Knowledge of IDEA and Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
    • Effective evidence-based processes and instructional practices, including development and implementation of academic and behavior supports and Multi- (incomplete).
  • Valid Ohio teaching license and/or administrative license.
  • Experience as administrator at district or building level.
  • Experience developing and providing professional development, coaching, and technical assistance for adult learners.
  • Candidates will exhibit strong skills, knowledge, and expertise in:
    • Planning processes, including use of strategic problem-solving.
    • Effective coaching and consultation skills in a school or district setting.
    • Implementation and improvement monitoring strategies.
    • Delivery of high-quality professional learning and technical assistance.
Salary

Salary schedule placement commensurate with experience and training.
