Responsibilities are basic and routine in nature. This may include performing administrative duties in an office, assisting in a research laboratory, or aiding faculty/staff in supporting academic programs or patient care. Duties will be clear and direct. The Student Assistant will require excellent customer service and strong organizational skills and will represent the department and the university with the highest degree of integrity applying OSU mission and shared values.

LiFEsports is a summer program that aims to foster social competence among youth through their involvement in sport, fitness, and educational activities. The College of Social Work’s LiFEsports department is hiring the following roles:
- Recreation Leader
- Chalk Talk Leader
- Group Counselor
- Enrichment Leader
All of these will be titled as the Youth Care Worker, but you can read the description for each role below.
Youth Care Worker (Recreation Leader, Chalk Talk Leader, Enrichment Leader, and Group Counselor)Campus Anticipated

Recreation Leaders provide sport instruction based on evidence‑based curricula designed to support social skill development for youth. They lead four, one‑hour sport sessions per day to approximately 15‑20 youth at a time. Sports to be led include baseball/softball, basketball, dance, football, health & fitness, lacrosse, soccer, swimming, tennis, ultimate frisbee, and volleyball. Campus leaders teach one sport; community‑based leaders may teach multiple.
Chalk Talk Leaders provide evidence‑based social skill instruction using a play‑based social skills curriculum developed by LiFEsports. They lead four, one‑hour classroom sessions per day to approximately 15‑20 youth at a time.
Enrichment Leaders provide instruction in art, science, and/or reading using lessons developed by LiFEsports. They lead four, one‑hour classroom sessions per day to approximately 15‑20 youth at a time. All Enrichment Leader positions are located off‑campus.
Group Counselors guide and ensure the safety of youth as they engage in various sports, enrichment, and social skill instruction. They support group cohesion, provide behavioral supports when necessary, supervise meals, and record daily camp attendance and lunch counts.
All Youth Care Workers, regardless of role, are expected to follow safety and emergency procedures and guidelines.

June 8 2026 – July 31 2026 - There will be additional training dates for all roles the week before camp starts.
Pay is $15.00 an hour
