The Youth Services Manager (Youth Leadership Programs) is responsible for the day-to-day operations of all KYC youth leadership program initiatives, including the Community Advisory Board and the Ohio GSA Network. This position is responsible for facilitating the development of GSAs in Ohio middle and high schools, supporting the growth and stability of existing GSAs, recruiting new schools to the network; facilitating community education and professional development trainings;
and leading GSA-related programming and youth leadership programming in KYC’s Drop-In Center. Weekends, evenings, and travel will be required.
- Design, curate, and facilitate leadership development programming, including KYC’s Community Advisory Board, Summer Institute, and leadership-focused discussion groups.
- Engage with and support participants during programming.
- Seek out, adapt, and utilize training and curriculum for youth and GSA advisors to support the development of effective GSAs and youth leadership.
- Provide consultation and education to teachers, administrators, and other youth-serving adults regarding the needs of and best practices for working with LGBTQIA+ youth and GSAs.
- Provide community-specific education and training workshops related to LGBTQIA+ youth and BIPOC TGNCQ youth development, creating safer, more affirming spaces, services, and policies for youth in schools and in the community.
- Engage in outreach and recruiting activities such as contacting school administrators, arranging site visits to schools, and attending GSA meetings.
- Create and/or facilitate forums for youth and adults in the Network to connect with one another to share best practices for GSAs and supporting LGBTQIA+ youth leadership.
- Facilitate community education and professional development training opportunities.
- Develop, coordinate, and execute annual Network events including Other Prom, Bar-B-Queer, and/or field trips.
- Gather, curate, and archive resources for and about LGBTQIA+ youth and GSAs.
- Serve as a voice of Kaleidoscope Youth Center with regard to local, state, regional, and national initiatives affecting LGBTQIA+ youth and LGBTQIA+ youth advocacy.
- Serve as an advocate for youth leaders and anti-adultism in historically adult spaces.
- Represent Kaleidoscope and the Ohio GSA Network at community forums, resource fairs, speaking engagements, fundraisers, and collaborative meetings.
- Ensure timely completion of required funder and organizational paperwork, either independently or in collaboration with supervisor and grants manager.
- Participate in staff meetings and other organizational meetings or events.
- Open and close the drop-in center when requested.

- Bachelor’s degree in education or a social service-related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to appropriately manage confidential information.
- Experience working with LGBTQIA+ youth/young adults.
- Ability to communicate with, supervise, organize, and empower youth across many economic, social, and racial identities.
- Ability to establish and maintain appropriate adult/youth boundaries.
- Experience in group/program facilitation, teaching/training facilitation, and comfort with public speaking.
- Knowledge and understanding of issues and dynamics of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning youth development, adultism, and intersectional identity.

- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work on a team and independently to create and deliver effective programs.
- Knowledge and ability to serve as a resource and consultant to youth, families, youth-serving professionals, and community members on LGBTQIA+ youth issues.
