ELA & Social Studies Teacher; 5th-6th Grades

Position: ELA & Social Studies Teacher (5th-6th Grades)
Horizon science academy westerville is seeking a committed and enthusiastic ela and social studies teacher to join our team and inspire young learners in 5th and 6th grades. The ideal candidate will create engaging, student-centered lessons that promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and scientific inquiry in a safe and supportive classroom environment. Teaching responsibilities:

* support the school's mission, philosophies, values, goals, and policies toward students, parents/guardians and coworkers.

* design and implement engaging ela and social studies lessons aligned with state and school standards.

* deliver developmentally appropriate curriculum and instruction which reflects observations and goals of individual children.

* integrate technology and hands-on learning experiences to enhance instruction.

* foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture that promotes student engagement and achievement.

* assess and track student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments.

* work with the faculty and school leadership to frequently examine student data for ongoing refinement of instruction and assessment.

* facilitate regular parent/guardian communications and conferences to discuss student progress.

* maintain an organized, attractive and safe classroom environment.

* have an understanding of pbis strategies or willingness to learn.

* foster positive relationships with students, parents, and other stakeholders

* has the work ethic and desire to go above and beyond

* highly organized

Education & experience:

* bachelor's degree or master's degree in education or similar concentration

* valid oh teaching certificate/license or must be in the process of obtaining a valid oh teaching certificate/license in subject area to be taught

Compensation & benefits:

* compensation packages are competitive and commensurate with experience. Horizon science academy offers a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision, life and disability coverage. Employees participate in ohio strs (state retirement system). Tuition reimbursement available up to $4,000 per year.
