The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek a research faculty member to join the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism. Academic rank and track are commensurate with academic record and experience.
Duties And ResponsibilitiesThis is an academic position on the research track. The duties include, but are not limited to:
- Conceptualizes, plans, designs, implements and conducts research studies in endocrinology, including disorders such as diabetes, metabolism, endocrine cancer, reproductive endocrinology, lipids, osteoporosis, and neuroendocrine topics.
- Develops and writes grant proposals to obtain extramural funding and seeks NIH R01 or equivalent funding.
- Writes and publishes research in peer‑reviewed journals; presents at national and international conferences; develops national and international scholarly reputation.
- Instructs and mentors junior scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students, medical students, residents and fellows; participates in Department, College and University committees and initiatives.
- PhD or MD/PhD in an applicable field
- Proven ability to write scientific reports and publish in peer‑reviewed journals (preferred)
- Current, active extramural grant funding (equivalent to NIH R01 or Career Development Award)
- Academic experience is a plus
- Qualify for an academic appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor level; rank and salary determined by experience
The Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism has been recognized for excellence by U.S. News & World Report. We focus on clinical care, medical education, and research, supported by The Ohio State University College of Medicine, Wexner Medical Center, and The James Cancer Hospital. The division is involved in adrenal and pituitary disorders; thyroid nodules and cancer; type 1 and type 2 diabetes and obesity;
and metabolic bone disease.

Clinical faculty (regardless of rank) are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of three to five years. Tenure-track faculty (regardless of rank) may be eligible for tenure or may have obtained tenure; they focus on research, teaching, and service. Research faculty focus on research and are not eligible for tenure.
