Job DescriptionWe are seeking a dynamic, student-centered Physical Education Teacher to join our K–2 primary team. The ideal candidate will create a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate physical education program that builds foundational movement skills, promotes healthy habits, and fosters a lifelong love of physical activity.
The K–2 PE Teacher plays a critical role in supporting students’ physical development, teamwork skills, self-regulation, and confidence in a structured and joyful environment.
Primary Responsibilities Instruction & Curriculum- Plan and deliver standards-aligned physical education lessons for students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade
- Teach fundamental motor skills, coordination, balance, spatial awareness, and cooperative play
- Incorporate age-appropriate fitness, movement games, and structured activities
- Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners, including students with disabilities and English learners
- Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment
- Establish and reinforce clear expectations for behavior and safety in the gym and during transitions
- Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and respectful peer interactions
- Use positive behavior supports and restorative practices
- Supervise students during arrival, dismissal, or assigned duties as needed
- Monitor and document student progress in physical development and participation
- Provide feedback to students and families on growth and skill development
- Maintain accurate attendance and grading records
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and administration
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events
- Communicate with families in a timely and professional manner
- Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education or related field
- Valid state teaching certification (Physical Education endorsement required)
- Experience working with primary-aged students preferred
- Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills
- Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate physical education practices
- Energetic and engaging instructional style
- Ability to build strong relationships with young learners
- Commitment to equity and inclusive practices
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to actively demonstrate physical skills
- Ability to stand, move, and supervise students for extended periods
- Ability to lift and move equipment as needed
