Program Manager – Undergraduate Fellowships Office (UFO)

This position is an integral part of the Office of Academic Enrichment, serving all Ohio State undergraduate students. The Program Manager has both student‑facing and faculty‑facing responsibilities. Under the direction of the Program Director for High Impact Practices, the manager leads all aspects of the UFO, ensuring fellowship winners raise the visibility and prestige of the university.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain industry knowledge on roughly 30 fellowship awards and publicize them to students and faculty.
  • Advise interested students on appropriate fellowship opportunities and prepare them through personalized assistance in essays, portfolios, application packages, and interview preparation.
  • Track student progress across all four years of a student’s career and advise them on developing fellowship candidacy.
  • Acquire, process, and deliver student records such as transcripts to fellowship foundations.
  • Author official nomination letters sent to foundation representatives.
  • Deliver information sessions and application‑writing workshops.
  • Develop creative measures to ensure fellowship success among OSU undergraduates.
  • Increase visibility and understanding of UFO operations across the campus community.
  • Liaise with foundation representatives to ensure appropriate preparation of viable candidates.
  • Represent the university at regional, national, and international meetings of fellowship advisers.
  • Create a culture of fellowships on campus by developing and maintaining relationships with staff and faculty across the university.
  • Recruit faculty to serve on nomination, advisory, and mock interview committees.
  • Assist faculty in writing letters of recommendation.
  • Liaise with units across campus to promote fellowship participation.
  • Participate in campus programming (research festivals, scholarship interviews, etc.) to cultivate relationships that lead to fellowship applicants.
  • Coordinate with the Graduate School and Office of International Affairs to run the Fulbright U.S. Student program and related events such as the annual Fulbright Week.
  • Collaborate with University Marketing and the Office of the President to inform the campus community and leadership of prestigious award winners.
  • Supervise one entry‑level full‑time staff member and provide guidance as they learn the field.
  • Support a faculty fellow in providing seminars for applicants.
Education / Experience

Required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, 6 years of relevant experience, teaching experience, program planning and administration experience, and exceptional writing and communication skills.

Desired: Ph.D. preferred; 8–12 years of relevant experience; administrative experience; strong communication and organizational skills; excellent rapport with students and faculty; attention to detail.

Salary range for this position is $58,700 – $64,000. The offer will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications.
