Position Type: Full-time
Springfield City School District (Division I District) seeks a Physical Education Teacher for the school year. The district serves approximately 7,500 Pre‑K through grade 12 students and values diversity. It offers opportunities such as a 1:1 initiative, You Media Center, 3‑D printing, graphic design, and videography.
Responsibilities- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials; provide individualized and small‑group instruction.
- Manage a professional classroom conducive to learning and whole‑child development.
- Foster cooperative and respectful partnership with families; encourage parent involvement through observations and volunteer opportunities.
- Maintain close relationships with parents, especially regarding at‑risk students.
- Actively engage at‑risk students using appropriate instructional strategies, activities, materials, and equipment.
- Recognize the needs of individual students and the group; offer support and flexibility as needed.
- Work as part of a cooperative and diverse team of educators and administrators to carry out district goals.
- Utilize technology to strengthen teaching/learning.
- Participate in professional development activities aligned with district and building goals, subject content, and varied student needs.
- Current 7‑12 licensure issued by the Ohio Department of Education in Physical Education.
- Flexible work schedule and willingness to attend and participate in professional development sessions.
- Willingness to serve on teams.
- Ability to relate to and teach students with diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm in the role.
- Preferred:
Previous experience in an urban setting.
Contracted employee: 183 days per year, 7.25 hours per day.
Starting salary in accordance with the negotiated agreement, increases with experience and education.
