Compensation: $51,460.00

This is a tenure-track, full‑time faculty position in the Biological and Physical Sciences Department. The primary responsibilities are teaching 15 contact hours per semester, service, and professional development. Overload and summer contracts are available.

Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned courses as scheduled and oversee the curriculum in conjuction with departmental policies.
  • Design curriculum that considers individual differences of students and supports a range of learning activities.
  • Identify students with academic or other needs and respond by utilizing appropriate resources.
  • Use technology appropriately and communicate expectations regarding its use to students.
  • Keep accurate records and attendance.
  • Determine and submit grades promptly and communicate progress feedback throughout the semester.
  • Create and maintain accurate syllabi that incorporate departmental, college, cross‑college, and instructor requirements.
  • Participate in the selection of appropriate materials to support the course curriculum.
  • Conduct classes punctually and in accordance with the prescribed meeting schedule.
  • Develop assessment techniques to measure student performance and assist in their design and development.
  • Facilitate learning in a digital environment.
  • Work closely with students in the laboratory to maximize instructional value.
  • Assist in the maintenance of instructional materials and laboratory facilities.
Student Engagement & Advisement
  • Create a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages active and collaborative learning, academic challenge, and support for learners.
  • Maintain posted office hours in accordance with department and college policies.
  • Use technology to communicate with students and encourage a sense of community.
  • Advise students, both prospective and current, about program, career, and transfer options.
  • Refer students to appropriate academic support services available on campus or in the community.
Continuous Improvement
  • Participate in the maintenance and improvement of instructional materials, laboratories, and facilities.
  • Contribute to the development, selection, and improvement of instructional materials and curriculum.
  • Complete mandatory performance evaluation measures within specified limits.
  • Share best practices with colleagues.
  • Participate in instructional, departmental, or institutional research to improve educational effectiveness.
  • Provide feedback on departmental or institutional operations.
  • Participate in hiring, selection, and orientation processes for faculty and staff.
  • Attend faculty meetings and committees as required.
Professional Development
  • Maintain a portfolio for tenure and promotion review.
  • Use self‑appraisal to establish goals and objectives for professional development.
  • Contribute to planning, evaluation, or presentation of college professional development programs.
  • Maintain required professional credentials and continuing education hours.
Culture of Respect
  • Foster a safe environment of respect and belonging for faculty, staff, students, and community members.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree or higher in Organic Chemistry from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in teaching/learning laboratory settings.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior teaching experience.
  • Experience with online course management systems (Blackboard, Canvas, Edmodo, Moodle).
  • Experience with online course instruction techniques and methods.
Compensation Details
  • 9‑Month Instructor Salary: $51,460.00 – $57,635.20
  • Optional Summer Semester (Full load): $16,648.82 – $18,646.68
  • Optional Overload (maximum amounts shown)
  • Autumn Semester (12 contact hours max): $11,520
  • Spring Semester (12 contact hours max): $11,520
  • Summer Semester (9 contact hours max): $8,640
