Health Educator
Overview
The Yoga Instructor will provide a group Yoga-Based Intervention (YBI) to adolescents as part of a grant-funded research project. YBI classes will take place weekly in-person on Saturdays and also include virtual classes one evening per week. Instructors will use principles from trauma-informed yoga and Accessible Yoga. Instructors will attend other meetings for training and supervision monthly or as required. Previous experience working with adolescents strongly preferred.
Evening and weekend hours required.
Teaches and facilitates learning by delivering content and providing feedback or support to enhance overall understanding and skill.
Essential Functions- Teaches course curriculum to participants such as licensed healthcare professional, patients and families, or the general public.
- Communicates with program coordinator or manager regarding relevant class information in a timely manner.
- May assist with curriculum development or identification and definition of the educational needs of the program participants.
- Presents a welcoming environment for participants and portrays a positive enthusiastic, professional attitude for participants.
- May coordinate program check-in and collect evaluations and payments from participants.
- Maintains cleanliness and order in the classroom. Re-sets rooms if changes for classroom activity unless other arrangements have been made.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent licensure or certification, required.
- Teaching and presentation skills for the classroom.
- Effective communication skills for relating to all levels of participants.
- Initiative, decision-making, problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Working knowledge of adult and child learning styles and effective teaching principles.
Experience in educational program development and design, required.
Physical RequirementsOCCASIONALLY: Bend/twist, climb stairs/ladder, flexing/extending of neck, lifting/carrying 0-10 lbs, lifting/carrying 11-20 lbs, squat/kneel.
FREQUENTLY: Decision making, driving motor vehicles (work required), additional testing may be required, problem solving, standing, walking.
CONTINUOUSLY: Audible speech, computer skills, hand use: grasping, gripping, turning, hearing acuity, interpreting data, peripheral vision, repetitive hand/arm use, seeing – far/near, sitting.
