3rd Gr Teacher – Lagonda Elementary School Job Description
About the District: The Springfield City School District, home to The John Legend Theatre, is seeking a 3rd Grade Teacher for Lagonda Elementary School for the school year. The district serves approximately 7,500 students from Pre-K to grade 12 across 17 state-of-the-art buildings and emphasizes diversity and social-emotional learning.
Qualifications- Current licensure issued by the Ohio Department of Education
- Possession of or in the process of applying for the Reading Endorsement or passing Praxis 5203 (Teaching Reading: Elementary Education)
- Flexibility in work schedule and willingness to attend professional development sessions
- Willingness to serve on teams
- Ability to relate to and teach students with diverse backgrounds
- Demonstrated enthusiasm in the role
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, providing individualized and small-group instruction to meet student needs.
- Use multiple instructional approaches to meet diverse learning needs.
- Engage in active, hands-on creative and innovative activities to help students improve skills.
- Identify and build on student strengths.
- Support and follow district-enacted programming in academic, behavioral, and emotional support.
- Administer ongoing assessments to determine starting points, monitor needs, and evaluate progress.
- Evaluate, grade, and assess student work.
- Maintain class records and report grades and progress at term end.
- Provide instruction to students with varying capabilities, including SEL support.
- Assist students in developing responsible behaviors and positive work ethic.
- Implement an effective program of instruction reflective of Ohio Department of Education standards.
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, nurses, mental health specialists, counselors to maintain a safe, student-centered environment.
- Collaborate with colleagues for classroom and district-level program planning.
- Communicate with parents and caregivers about student/classroom issues.
- Maintain a professional demeanor, exemplifying responsible leadership.
- Manage all situations positively and professionally.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Employment type: Full-time, contracted teacher – 183 days per year, 7.25 hours per day.
Salary: In accordance with the negotiated agreement, increases with experience and education.
