Requirements:
Ohio Educational Aide Permit from ODEW, a high school diploma, CDA with Preschool specialization strongly preferred. Spanish-speaking is desirable

Hours:
Required to report according to the number of days recorded in the current year's academic calendar
Allocated 5 personal days and 9 sick days
Report at 7:30 am or at scheduled meeting times if earlier
Leave at 3:30 pm or at scheduled meeting times if later
Summary description:
This position has a key role in the classroom to aid the teacher in educating and helping students succeed in the classroom environment. Paraprofessionals shall supervise instructional activities to help students understand lessons. To accomplish this, paraprofessionals may work with small groups of students or with one student at a time. Paraprofessional duties include assisting teachers with clerical tasks like taking attendance, making copies, entering observations, etc.
Additionally, they confer with teachers on student performance and oversee students outside of the classroom during bathroom breaks, lunch, recess, dismissal, field trips, etc.
Primary responsibilities:
Curriculum/Planning
Works with students individually, in small groups, or as a whole group to assist in implementing lesson plans created by the Teacher
Assists professional staff in the administration of the required assessments
Records observations and assists with inputting data into the system
Instruction/Lessons
Collects and prepares materials for student activities as directed by the Teacher.
Follows the Teacher's lead in implementing learning activities
Modifies instructional practices/routines in accordance with students' individual needs
Maintains accurate attendance records, incident reports, cleaning lists, and other required classroom paperwork
Classroom Management
Engages in Active supervision of children at all times. Performs frequent face-to-name counts
Ensures that the individual needs of the children are met.
Assists children with toileting, hand washing, tying their shoes, etc
Promotes self-regulation and self-help skills
Assists with behavior management as directed by the Teacher
Covers Planning hours for Teaching staff
Acts in the capacity of a substitute teacher in the teacher's absence.
Health/Safety and Licensing Compliance
Follows all DCY and ODE licensing rules, school policies, and safety procedures
Maintains a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment. Completes daily and weekly cleaning/sanitizing checklists
Completes and maintains all state-required training
Professional Development
Attends professional development opportunities throughout the year for continuous improvement.
Meets or exceeds Step up to Quality required and Ohio Approved Professional Development hours
Maintains OCCRRA account in good standing
Observes and collaborates with other teachers in the building 3x per year for mutual growth and development in accordance to peer observation program
Additional Items
Builds a relationship with students and parents so that they know you want only the best for the student
Maintains a strong collaborative relationship with teachers, instructional support staff, etc.
Submits all required items to administration/office in a timely manner
Returns all communication to parents within 24 hours of receiving it
Be supportive of the PPA team at all times, but especially when speaking to parents and students
Communicates with supervisor in regards to staff not following policies of PPA
Completes anything assigned by your supervisor
Secondary responsibilities:
Duties
Arrive to all scheduled duties on time
Substitute coverage for grade level or as assigned
Supervise lunch, recess, and other duties as assigned
Follow assigned school duty guidelines in the PPA handbook
Meetings
Biweekly on the first day of the week at 7:30am with all instructional staff
Biweekly on scheduled day with the Pre-K Director
Weekly on Wednesday at 7:15am with the grade level team (TBT, Team, etc.)
