KIPP Columbus is a K-12 public charter school dedicated to preparing students for college and life.

Responsibilities:

• Implement individualized education programs (IEPs) and related documentation.
• Design and execute individualized instructional strategies aligned with Ohio Academic Content Standards.
• Provide direct intervention for students with disabilities in both general and special education settings.
• Differentiated instruction and curriculum modification to meet unique learning needs.
• Use evidence‑based instructional strategies to support academic growth.
• Co‑plan and co‑teach lessons with general education teachers.
• Act as liaison between students, teachers, families, and service providers.
• Advocate for inclusive practices and ensure appropriate accommodations.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, including IEP and MTSS meetings.
• Implement behavioral intervention plans (BIPs) and positive behavior supports.
• Provide social‑emotional learning (SEL) support to students with disabilities.
• Utilize de‑escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies.
• Assess academic and behavioral progress using formal and informal assessments.
• Maintain documentation and progress reports for IEPs.
• Adjust instructional strategies based on data‑driven decision‑making.
• Adhere to Ohio operating standards for schools serving children with disabilities.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state special education laws.
• Follow board policies and district procedures.
• Stay updated on best practices in inclusive education through ongoing training.
• Assist general education staff with inclusion strategies.
• Collaborate with parents and colleagues as learning partners.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four‑year college or university.
• Current Ohio Special Education Intervention Specialist License or willingness to obtain certification by start date.
• Preferred:
  Prior teaching experience.
• Experience in ETR meetings and writing ETR part 1.
• Experience writing IEPs, progress monitoring, reporting, and data collection.
• Experience using Same Goal to create special education documents.
• Belief in equitable high‑quality outcomes for all students.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and optimistic perseverance.
• Commitment to go above and beyond for students.
• Ability to multi‑task in a fast‑moving, ambiguous environment.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
