Position Overview
The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek a PhD or MD/PhD researcher to join the Department of Surgery, Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery. The position is open‑rank faculty with a basic or translational science research focus in colorectal cancer. Candidates should have an established research program with a successful record of publications and extramural funding.
The opportunity benefits from an extensive collaborative network within the University and Cancer Center, as well as clinical collaborations and access to human specimens.
Academic rank and track will be commensurate with academic record and experience. Candidates are expected to qualify for appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Professor level. Current, active extramural grant funding equivalent to an NIH R01 is required.
Duties and Responsibilities- Conceptualize, plan, design, implement, and conduct research studies; develop and write grant proposals to secure extramural funding.
- Obtain and maintain NIH R01 or equivalent funding.
- Write and publish research in high‑quality peer‑reviewed scientific journals; present at national and international conferences.
- Instruct and mentor junior scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students, medical students, residents, and fellow trainees; participate in departmental, college and university committees and initiatives.
- PhD or MD/PhD in a relevant field.
- Postdoctoral research experience in basic science research.
- Proven ability to write scientific reports and publish in peer‑reviewed journals.
- Current, active extramural grant funding equivalent to NIH R01.
- Academic experience preferred.
