Chesterton Academy of St. Benedict, a classical high school in the Catholic tradition, seeks a passionate and dynamic part‑time high school Drama teacher for the academic year.
Drama is an integral part of the Chesterton Academy curriculum and required for all students during sophomore, junior, and senior years. Chesterton Academy insists that the Arts are paramount to the formation of the students and gives them pride of place as fundamental and vital disciplines in its integrated curriculum. Drama takes the written word and brings it to life.
Responsibilities- Cast, rehearse, and facilitate the production of one dramatic performance each semester (a production for sophomores in the fall and for juniors and seniors in the spring).
- Conduct most rehearsals during scheduled class hours.
- Instruct students in skills related to acting and support roles (as appropriate to their role in the play), effectively and engagingly.
- Assess student performance through rehearsal participation, dress rehearsals, and final production.
- Provide constructive feedback to support student growth.
- Participate in the House system and encourage student growth in character and virtue.
- Engage in the spiritual life of the school as part‑time faculty.
- Degree in Drama or extensive experience in the field.
- Practicing Catholic and willing to take the Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium.
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Track record of contributing to the vision and mission of an apostolic and educational enterprise.
Time commitment: 2 school days per week, 2-3 class hours per week.
