Saint Mary Magdalene School, a vibrant and culturally diverse prek‑K through 8 school located at 2940 Parkside Road in Columbus, is seeking a Middle School Social Studies Teacher for the 2026‑2027 school year.

The ideal candidate will be hardworking, collaborative, and demonstrate a high degree of self‑efficacy, holding themselves accountable for learner outcomes. The candidate will maintain a growth mindset toward student learning, teaching practice, and personal/collective professional development. They will facilitate problem‑solving, exhibit a curious mind and critical thinking skills, and creatively apply data‑driven curriculum and practice.

• Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
• Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and tests in accordance with established procedures.
• Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
• Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
• Manage student behavior by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
• Maintain discipline in accordance with the school’s systems.
• Provide appropriate feedback on work.
• Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use the information to adjust teaching strategies.
• Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
• Update all necessary records as required by laws, policies, and school regulations.
• Prepare required reports on students and activities.
• Participate in grade-band, school, and parent meetings.
• Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and needs.
• Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
• Prepare the classroom for class activities.
• Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for educational activities.
• Observe and evaluate students’ performance and development.
• Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments.

• Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds.
• Encourage parent and community involvement; promptly respond to phone calls and emails.
• Participate in appropriate professional activities.
• Participate in school committees that enhance the community and supplement student learning.

• Hold an appropriate Ohio teaching license (Professional, Permanent, or Resident Educator) or be eligible to obtain one before beginning to teach.
• Current satisfactory BCI and FBI background checks.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
