Physician - Department of Urology, Vice Chair Research​/Track Faculty

Position Overview

Vice Chair for Research is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing and implementing the department’s strategic research priorities to grow the research portfolio, recruit new scientists, expand research space, increase research funding, and improve research impact. The successful candidate will develop a translational research program with clinical implications that ultimately advances the care of patients with urologic disease. The Vice Chair will foster a collaborative environment, promote discovery, and ensure the department maintains a high standard of scientific excellence and innovation.

• Develop a translational research program within the Department of Urology, recruit and retain established and emerging scientists, foster scientific inquiry, lead high‑impact projects, and promote interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Identify and pursue funding opportunities from federal agencies, private foundations, and industry partners; oversee grant proposal preparation and submission; manage research budgets and resource allocation.
• Teach and mentor students, trainees, and junior faculty; commit to recruiting and developing women and underserved minorities.

• MD, DO, PhD, or equivalent terminal degree in a relevant field.
• Actively funded research program in basic or translational research.
• Research designed with the ultimate goal of leading to clinical trials.
• Proven track record of independent research and successful grant acquisition.
• Experience in a leadership role within an academic or research setting.
• Extensive publication record in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Proficiency in research methodologies and data analysis.
• Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor undergraduate, medical, and postdoctoral students.
• Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
• Qualifications for an appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank.
