Non-Instructional Aide (Playground/Lunch/Office Coverage) – 182 school day contract, Step 0 = $18.41 per hour. Qualifies for SERS, Vision, and Life benefits. Approximate weekly salary: $349.02.
Responsibilities- Assist students in non‑instructional areas such as lunch, bus, playground, corridor, and study hall.
- Accompany students on field trips for supervision.
- Construct, copy, distribute, and use educational materials as needed.
- Assist students with physical or mental disabilities with activities of daily living to enable participation in school activities.
- Follow all applicable safety rules, procedures, and regulations governing assistance for all students, including those with disabilities or other special needs.
- Provide additional duties as directed by guidance, pupil services staff, or building administration.
- Assist individual students with activities initiated by teachers.
- Supervise children in the classroom, hallway, lunchroom, bus transfer, and playground.
- Reinforce learning in small groups or individually while teacher works with other students.
- Provide assistance with individualized programmed materials.
- Score objective tests and papers, and maintain records for teachers.
- Assist teachers in observing, recording, and charting behavior.
- Support teachers with crisis situations and behavior management.
- Assist in preparation and production of instructional materials.
- Carry out instructional programs designed by the teacher.
- Work with teachers to develop classroom schedules.
- Operate and maintain classroom equipment.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned.
- Use standard office equipment, including personal computers and copiers.
- Travel between schools or between schools and central offices may be required for certain positions.
- Carry out instructions provided in written or oral form.
- Perform basic arithmetic operations.
- Use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel).
- Work effectively with a diverse group of individuals.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding students, employees, and others.
- Establish supportive and compassionate relationships with students with special needs.
- Maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, and others.
- Report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required.
- Communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
- Work in standard office and school building environments.
- Work outdoors during outdoor student activities.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of college‑level coursework or passing of the examination required by the No Child Left Behind Act.
- Prior experience working with special‑needs children is desirable.
FLSA Status: Non‑exempt.
