Job DescriptionThe School of Music, within the College of Arts and Sciences, seeks a Youth Summer Music Programs (YSMP) – Musician to join our team. Each summer, the School of Music welcomes hundreds of student musicians to Ohio State’s campus where they participate in programs specifically designed to further their skills and understanding of music.
Responsibilities- Assist camp directors with music rehearsals, group work, and sectional coaching.
- Accompany all campers, staff, and camp directors in rehearsals and during camp performances.
- Collaborate with the Youth Summer Music Program directors and the School of Music’s administrative team to oversee compliance with school policies and procedures that align with the school’s mission and vision.
- Act as liaison between directors and campers to ensure that their needs and concerns are addressed in a timely and professional manner.
- Contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports the growth and development of students.

Education and Experience
High School diploma or GED. Certification or vocational training may be preferred. 1 year of relevant experience required. 2‑4 years of relevant experience preferred.
DesiredEducation and Experience
Master’s degree in music or related field. 4+ years of proven experience in music teaching; strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and community partners; knowledge of music education pedagogy, curriculum development, and assessment; ability to work collaboratively with the School of Music administrative team and instructors to achieve the school’s goals; and a passion for music education and a commitment to the school’s mission of providing accessible and high-quality music instruction to the community.
