4th Grade Science/Social Studies Teacher - Simon Kenton Elementary
The Springfield City School District, home to The John Legend Theatre, is seeking a 4th Grade Science and Social Studies Teacher at Simon Kenton Elementary School for the 2026-27 school year.
Qualifications- Current licensure issued by the Ohio Department of Education
- Flexibility in work schedule and willingness to attend professional development sessions
- Willingness to serve on teams
- Ability to relate to and teach students with diverse backgrounds
- Demonstrated enthusiasm in teaching role
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, providing individualized and small group instruction to meet student needs.
- Use multiple approaches to instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
- Engage in active, hands‑on creative and innovative approaches to help students improve skills.
- Identify and build on student strengths.
- Support and follow all district programming in academic, behavioral and emotional support.
- Facilitate ongoing assessments to determine instructional starting points, monitor needs and evaluate progress.
- Evaluate, grade, and assess student work.
- Maintain class records and report grades and progress at the end of the term.
- Provide instruction to students with varying capabilities and needs with attention to SEL support.
- Assist students in developing responsible behaviors and a positive work ethic.
- Implement an effective program of instruction reflective of the Ohio Department of Education.
- Interact with paraprofessionals, nurses, mental health specialists, and counselors to provide a safe, student‑centered environment.
- Collaborate with colleagues, supporting building and district‑level programs.
- Communicate with parents and caregivers to address student/classroom issues.
- Maintain a professional demeanor, exemplifying responsible leadership.
- Manage all situations positively and professionally.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Contracted employee working 183 days per year, 7.25 hours per day.
