6th Grade Math/SS Teacher - Warder Park Wayne Elementary School

The Springfield City School District, located in Springfield, Ohio, is seeking a 6th grade Math/SS Teacher for the 2026-27 school year. The district serves approximately 7,500 students across 17 state‑of‑the‑art buildings and values the diversity of its student body, faculty, and staff.

• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction to meet the needs of each student.
• Use multiple approaches to instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
• Engage in active, hands‑on, creative and innovative approaches to help students learn how to improve their skills.
• Identify and build on student strengths.
• Support district-enacted programming in academic, behavioral and emotional support.
• Facilitate ongoing assessments to determine starting points for instruction, monitor needs and evaluate progress.
• Evaluate, grade, and assess student work.
• Maintain class records and report grades and progress at term end.
• Provide instruction to students with varying capabilities, including SEL support.
• Assist students in the development of responsible behaviors and positive work ethic.
• Implement an effective program of instruction reflective of the Ohio Department of Education.
• Interact with paraprofessionals, nurses, mental health specialists, and/or counselors to provide a safe, student‑centered environment.
• Engage in collaborative planning with colleagues, supporting building and district‑level programs.
• Communicate with parents and caregivers to address student or classroom issues.
• Maintain a professional demeanor, exemplifying responsible leadership as a model for students.
• Manage all situations in a positive and professional manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Current licensure issued by the Ohio Department of Education.
• Possession of or in the process of applying for the Reading Endorsement or having passed Praxis 5203 (Teaching Reading: Elementary Education).
• Flexible work schedule and willingness to attend professional development sessions.
• Willingness to serve on teams.
• Ability to relate to and teach students with diverse backgrounds.
• Demonstrate enthusiasm in the role.

As a contracted employee, teaching 183 days per year, 7.25 hours per day. Starting salary is in accordance with the negotiated agreement and increases with experience and education. Contracted employees receive competitive benefits. All employees receive professional development. The Springfield Education Association and the Board of Education are currently working on a new professional agreement; the current agreement applies to the 2025‑26 school year.
