Position: 7th Boys Head Soccer Coach
Location: Jones Middle School
This position is responsible for coaching and providing direction to student athletes so that they achieve a high level of skill as well as an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork in boys soccer.
QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements include:
- Prior successful experience working in a school setting is preferred.
- Previous experience coaching interscholastic soccer athletes is required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of child growth and development at each level of instruction and of the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of adolescent students.
- Demonstrated ability to participate in physically demanding athletic activities and effective behavior management methods.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and work in a dynamic environment.
Must hold or be willing to obtain the following certifications:
Fundamentals of Coaching, Concussion Training, First Aid or Sports Injury Prevention Training, CPR/AED, Sudden Cardiac Arrest (Lindsay’s Law), and Ohio Department of Education Pupil Activity Permit.
- Demonstrated successful leadership in building and maintaining a culture that aligns with organizational values.
- Ability to work in alignment with a school district's strategic plan.
- Conducts oneself in a manner consistent with a school district's core values, mission and vision.
- Builds relationships with student-athletes, parents, and the school community.
- Creates and maintains a positive and inclusive team environment.
- Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policies and procedures.
- Instructs and teaches skill sets and techniques necessary for individual and team achievement in boys soccer.
- Establishes a fair and objective manner for executing player selection and effectively communicates with students regarding selection decisions for team rosters.
- Demonstrates willingness to meet with parent(s) or guardian(s) of any student who is a member or trying out for the team.
- Creates and maintains an inclusive team culture.
- Plans and sets up activities, practices, and games in conjunction with the Department of Student Life.
- Ensures a certified coach is present at all practice and game sessions.
- Develops appropriate training programs and practice schedules.
- Ensures proper cleaning, storage, and maintenance of all athletic equipment and uniforms and maintains updated inventories.
- Travels with student athletes for all events or assigns a school district-approved designee to travel with all other levels on the team bus, both to and from games.
- Interacts thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff, parents, fellow coaches, and officials and resolves conflict in a professional manner.
- Professionally represents the school and the District in interactions with students, parents, community, staff and the media.
- Maintains appropriate certifications and training hours as required.
- Attends work regularly and is punctual.
