Description
The 21st Century Program is a comprehensive and innovative initiative that aims to provide academic enrichment, career exploration, and work experience opportunities for scholars. The program is funded by the 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant and supported by the school district and the workforce development agency. The program runs from October to April, with a summer program that runs for six weeks from June to July and serves scholars from grades 9 to 12.
The success of the program depends on the collaboration and coordination of various staff members who have different roles and responsibilities.
Job SummaryThis position is a full-time after school program position. The program coordinator would support the Academy for Urban Scholars Columbus High School.
Responsibilities Essential Duties- Coordinating senior activities (parenting meeting, coordinates senior graduation and plans, monitoring senior academic progress; assist with seniors ‘post‑secondary)
- Assist in planning and developing activities, maintain discipline, and evaluate students’ development for the 21st Century programs, in concert with the Program Coordinator.
- Monitor student attendance of the programs by collecting attendance rosters, overseeing attendance databases, and tracking number of days in attendance per student.
- Maintain snack distribution and tracking.
- Provide the support and guidance necessary to each child and their family to ensure that program elements are introduced smoothly.
- Assist in community outreach alongside the program coordinator.
- Enter data in database system.
- Assist in monitoring clubs and programming during after school hours.
- Assist in implementation of 21st Century event planning and execution for Work Academy scholars.
- Observe all rules and regulations of the Academy for Urban Scholars, and local, state, or national regulatory agencies pertaining to health, safety and care of children.
- Maintain overall professional personal appearance adhering to the guidelines of the 21st CCLC & Academy for Urban Scholars High School.
- Attend weekly and/or bi‑weekly faculty meetings.
- Perform related duties as required but not limited to.
- Assist in collaboration and implementation of Men and Women of Standard Mentoring Programs.
- Assist in other capacities as determined by the Program Coordinator.
- High school diploma.
- Experience with after school programming.
- Experience with community outreach.
- Experience/ability to manage students.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to establish trusting relationships.
- Knowledge of community resources and services available to support scholars.
- Familiarity with attendance tracking systems and procedures.
- Result driven.
- Innovative thinker.
- Flexible (ability to pivot).
- Flexible scheduling (weekends and late days).
- Excellent quality of outcomes (meeting deadlines, accountability, follow up / follow through).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
