Scholarship Counselor/Staff Assistant
Department:
Strategic Enrollment | Financial Aid
- Coordinate selection, awarding, and renewal of endowed, current use scholarship funds and general funds with colleges, departments, and external donors.
- Serve as direct liaison to colleges and departments, providing support and troubleshooting scholarship maintenance and awards.
- Support university and special scholarships, Cooperative Housing Programs, Alumni Association, University Honors & Scholars, UAFYE, and University Development.
- Recommend a high volume of applicants for scholarship selection and awarding.
- Process award revisions and package financial aid in compliance with program criteria and university, state and federal policies and procedures.
- Transmit scholarship decisions and directives.
- Assist in the operation of Scholarship Administration.
- Analyze Scholarship Administration policies and procedures, and make recommendations for updates, revisions, and enhancements.
- Assist with training of college and department liaisons on the electronic process to notify Student Financial Aid of their scholarships and awards.
- Provide training and updates to liaisons regarding Financial Aid and Department of Education regulations.
- Work with the Development Office and external donors in administering, verifying, and monitoring scholarships.
- Maintain scholarship donor accounts via the scholarship database to ensure information is current and accessible.
- Maintain statistical data for reporting and research.
- Research and troubleshoot scholarship administration issues using a variety of tools and resources.
- Monitor processing of departmental scholarships and awards in Student Information System.
- Counsel faculty and staff relative to financial aid program eligibility.
- Develop, facilitate, and coordinate presentations and seminars.
- Work with colleges and departments to establish outreach methods.
- Advise students and families on financial aid as needed.
- Monitor and audit account balances.
- Maintain and communicate funding projections and assist in preparing budgets.
- Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of position.
- Serve on committees.
- Assume responsibility for program maintenance and routine decision making in supervisor’s absence.
- May require some nights and weekends.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
- Preferred 2-4 years of relevant experience.
Targeted hiring range: $20.24/hr - $20.50/hr.
