Assistant Professor of Lutheran Theology and History and Director of Assessment (tenure‑track) at Trinity Lutheran Seminary, Capital University, Columbus, OH. The position includes a three‑quarter teaching appointment and a one‑quarter appointment directing assessment or grants. The nine‑month contract begins in August 2026.
Trinity Lutheran Seminary is one of the oldest ELCA seminaries embedded within a university. Its mission is to form leaders for Christ’s church through rigorous academic training and practical ministry.
Responsibilities- Teach introductory and advanced courses in Lutheran theology and history, including Lutheran Confessions and Reformation History.
- Provide academic advising, scholarly contributions, and ecclesial presentations.
- Lead assessment of student learning and institutional effectiveness or direct the seminary’s grant applications.
- Design, deliver, and assess courses across Fall, January, and Spring terms; incorporate online, hybrid, or intensive formats as needed.
- Ph.D. or Th.D. in Lutheran Systematic Theology or Church History (ABD may be considered).
- Strong teaching, scholarly, and professional development record at the seminary level.
- Expertise in programmatic or institutional assessment or in directing grants.
- Experience in ecclesial presentations (e.g., synods, congregations).
- Professional ministry experience or equivalent (ELCA membership preferred but not required).
- Commitment to collaborative, collegial work and a supportive academic environment.
