Job DescriptionThe Arts & College Preparatory Academy (ACPA) is an arts-focused, independent community school on the east side of Columbus that serves a diverse population of students in grades 7 through 12 from over 25 different districts in central Ohio. ACPA is in its twenty-sixth year of operation and has consistently been one of the highest performing charter schools in Ohio.
ACPA is seeking qualified candidates for a School Psychologist position for the school year. The School Psychologist will report to the Director of Student Services, and be highly collaborative with principals, the counseling team, classroom teachers and other members of the student support staff. The School Psychologist is a crucial position in many areas of student success - academics, social/emotional learning and overall continual growth.
The School Psychologist will also be expected to reflect the mission, vision and ACPA values of kindness, respect for diversity, honesty, problem solving, communication, participation and awareness in all interactions with school stakeholders - including students, staff, parents and community partners.
Responsibilities- Conduct extensive psychological examinations of referred students
- Provide consultative services to school personnel and parents
- Function as a liaison between the school and family in the student assessment and interpretation of test results
- Assist in the planning, development, and evaluation of programs to meet identified learning needs
- Help to develop a planned and coordinated program of psychological services
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff
- Knowledge of the current Ohio special education evaluation compliance timelines
- Attend IAT/ETR/IEP meetings and support ACPA's special education staff
- Demonstrate knowledge of Ohio state standards and testing requirements
- Support students with special needs
- Establish relationships with families
- Ensure that student progress is evaluated on a regular, systematic basis and that findings are used in making decisions to improve program effectiveness as it relates to specific student needs
- At least 1 year of experience working as a school psychologist (Required)
- Firm understanding of child and school psychology
- Ability to maintain and organize confidential records
- Understanding and commitment to following all related laws and standards
- Organizational, scheduling and planning skills to manage a complex schedule and the schedules of many students
License/Certification:
- Masters Degree or Doctorate in School Psychology (Required)
- Active School Psychology license in the state of Ohio (Required)
