The Director of Curriculum works with school administrators and teacher teams to plan academic coursework and programs that align with the mission and vision of the district. The Director plays a pivotal role in shaping the academic direction, overseeing the development and implementation of curriculum, and ensuring the highest standards. This individual supports the growth and development of school leaders and teachers to implement a curriculum that meets the needs of the students.
Responsibilitiesand Essential Functions
- Work with school administration to implement and evaluate academic coursework/programs that meet the needs of all learners.
- Design a comprehensive plan for continuous study of all areas of the curriculum.
- Engage building leaders in robust conversations about current curriculum, student engagement, and program effectiveness.
- Work with Career Tech Advisors to implement CTE coursework throughout grade bands (7‑8, 9‑12) that supplement the Metro experience and support ECE pathways.
- Meet with OSU and CSTATE Advisors to plan for ECE college coursework.
- Stay abreast of current trends, research, and advancements in education to inform curriculum decisions and maintain the institution’s competitive edge.
- Provide leadership and guidance to administrative team for creating high‑quality learning environments.
- Conduct regular classroom walkthroughs.
- Develop and facilitate professional development programs and workshops for administrators, teachers, or staff to enhance instructional skills and curriculum implementation strategies.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and reflective practice among educators.
- Utilize data‑driven approaches to monitor and identify areas for improvement to inform instructional decision‑making.
- Analyze assessment data to assess the effectiveness of initiatives and make data‑driven recommendations for program enhancements.
- Collaborate with academic team to align curriculum goals with the institutional mission and strategic objectives.
- Communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and parents regarding curriculum initiatives, instructional expectations, and academic performance.
- Build partnerships with external organizations, educational agencies, and community stakeholders to enhance opportunities and resources for students.
- Master’s or doctoral degree in education, curriculum and instruction, educational leadership, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in instructional supervision and/or educational leadership roles.
- Demonstrated expertise in curriculum design, pedagogical best practices, and educational assessment.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in data analysis, assessment tools, and educational technology applications.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment.
