ACCEL Schools is hiring a highly qualified 1st/2nd Grade Teacher at North Columbus Preparatory Academy in Columbus, Ohio. The role focuses on bringing the curriculum to life and creating a positive classroom environment that prioritizes student learning and social-emotional development. North Columbus Preparatory Academy is a public charter school founded in 2019, serving Linden and surrounding neighborhoods with a college‑prep program featuring hands‑on, project‑based learning and character education.

• Prepare and deliver lesson plans, modifying them as needed throughout the school year
• Differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all students
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and development
• Apply research‑based best practices in daily planning and instruction
• Manage student behavior in the classroom
• Create a positive learning environment for students
• Use school‑approved curricula that reflect diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds
• Implement school‑wide culture expectations and norms
• Communicate with families regarding academic and social‑emotional growth of their child
• Integrate technology skills into daily classroom practice to support learning
• Participate in planning and implementation of non‑instructional activities as needed
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Active and current Ohio teaching license in the appropriate content area
• Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field
• Comfort with a growth‑focused coaching environment based on frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage confidential information appropriately
• Capability to supervise students of various ages in different school settings (playground, cafeteria, etc.)
• Pass federal and state criminal background checks
• Experience working within an urban environment

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $38,000 – $47,500. Factors that may influence starting pay include geography, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications.
