United currently operates two high‑performing elementary schools (K‑5) and two high‑performing middle schools (6‑8) that serve more than 900 students. We strive to provide students with a rigorous academic experience in a joyful learning environment, and we work hard to ensure that students of all levels grow and succeed by focusing on intentional student support and continual improvement.
Position DescriptionThe English Language Teacher role provides an opportunity for a talented educator to work with students with English language learning needs in a variety of settings (general education classroom, small groups, or one‑on‑one). The teacher provides targeted support as outlined in individualized learning plans and manages the Home Language Survey, the Ohio English Language Proficiency Screener (OELPS), and the Ohio English Language Proficiency Assessment (OELPA).
The teacher also works with students, families, outside providers, and colleagues to identify, design, and implement individualized plans that help students grow and succeed. This position is integral in ensuring that all students have access to high‑quality educational experiences.

- Holds a B.A./B.S. degree and has the ability to secure the appropriate teaching license.
- Holds the Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) endorsement or is willing to work to obtain it in a reasonable period of time.
- Has at least two years of successful English Language teaching experience in an urban school (preferred).
- Develops and implements individualized plans for each identified student, complementary to their educational strengths and needs as defined through the Home Language Survey and the OELPA tests.
- Is committed to using data‑driven instructional practices and the techniques outlined in Teach Like a Champion 3.0 to improve student outcomes.
- Is relentless in writing, refining, and internalizing curriculum, lessons, and assessments.
- Is open and committed to implementing frequent feedback from team members.
- Communicates effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
- Comfortable with Google products for effective communication and completion of job responsibilities.
This is a full‑time position. Report times are typically Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., although some job‑related tasks may be expected outside of these hours. The starting salary for a new EL Teacher with a Bachelor’s degree is $49,000. The starting salary for other applicants will depend on professional experience and education level.
