Student Intervention Coordinator
Reports To: Building Principal
Terms of Employment: Salary and work year as established by the Board of Education and in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
Job Goal / Purpose
The Student Intervention Coordinator (SIC) provides leadership, coordination, and support for academic, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions. The coordinator ensures the fidelity of MTSS processes, supports state-mandated initiatives such as the Third Grade Reading Guarantee (TGRG), organizes testing and data systems, and facilitates communication between students, staff, families, and community partners. The ultimate goal is to ensure every student has equitable access to interventions and resources that promote success.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree.
- Valid Ohio Guidance (K-12) preferred or Elementary Certification.
- Three or more years of successful teaching or equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and intervention systems.
- Alternative qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
- Coordinate the building MTSS process, including scheduling and facilitating meetings, managing forms, and maintaining case management files.
- Facilitate academic and behavioral intervention plans for students in Tier 2 and Tier 3.
- Monitor progress monitoring (PM) completion and organize Tier 1 MTSS meetings quarterly.
- Analyze data to create intervention/enrichment groups and ensure documentation is maintained.
- Organize and schedule MTSS meetings and maintain MTSS/504 records.
- Provide teachers with resources, support, and coaching to develop effective intervention plans.
- Ensure compliance with state mandates, timely data reporting, and fidelity of instructional interventions for applicable grade levels.
- Maintain TGRG spreadsheets, benchmark data, and OST Reading Grade 3 results.
- Plan and implement RIMP training, review RIMPs, provide feedback, and ensure completion.
- Communicate TGRG requirements to families, including sending letters for new students within required timelines.
- Coordinate building-wide standardized testing programs (OST, OELPA, gifted testing, etc.).
- Ensure staff receive training and test security procedures are followed.
- Organize accommodations, rosters, and testing tickets.
- Troubleshoot testing issues and support students with assigned accommodations.
- Interpret test results for staff and families.
- Work individually with students to address personal, behavioral, or social‑emotional concerns, referring as necessary to other professionals.
- Communicate regularly with parents and act as a resource to enhance home‑school connections.
- Investigate student behaviors, document incidents, assign resolutions, and follow up with staff and families.
- Provide crisis intervention as needed.
- Participate as a member of BLT, TBT, and academic committees.
- Coordinate with intervention specialists, gifted coordinators, social workers, and other staff to support interventions and testing.
- Assist in planning Summer Academy enrollment and communication with families.
- Support building supervision in the absence of the Principal, serving as lead when designated, and when no Assistant Principal is available.
- Supervise students in common areas (cafeteria, hallways, recess, field trips).
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the principal.
- Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.
- May perform strenuous tasks, such as lifting, when working with students.
- Excellent observation, organization, and communication skills.
- Frequent interaction with a diverse population of students, staff, and families.
- Assisting students with behavioral/management needs.
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy and provisions of the collective bargaining agreement, ensuring alignment with district goals and expectations.
