The Automotive Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality automotive and career-readiness instruction within Equip Skills Center. This role combines technical training, mentorship, workforce development, and spiritual leadership to support students in becoming employable, confident, and purpose-driven individuals.
Key ResponsibilitiesInstruction & Training
- Teach automotive repair, maintenance, safety, and diagnostic skills in a hands-on learning environment
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans and training activities
- Instruct students in workplace readiness skills including professionalism, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving
- Evaluate student performance and provide coaching, encouragement, and feedback
- Expand and maintain employer partnerships to support internships, apprenticeships, and job placement opportunities
- Supervise and support student job placement and workforce transition efforts
- Collaborate with community partners and local employers to strengthen career pathways for students
- Maintain classroom and shop organization, safety standards, and equipment upkeep
- Track student attendance, progress, certifications, and program outcomes
- Represent the mission and values of Central Ohio Youth for Christ through Christ-centered leadership and ministry
- Build authentic mentoring relationships with students
- Encourage spiritual growth through prayer, discipleship, encouragement, and daily interactions
- Participate in staff meetings, ministry events, and organizational initiatives
- Experience in automotive repair, maintenance, or technical instruction
- Passion for mentoring and developing young people
- Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to teach in both classroom and hands-on environments
- Commitment to professional excellence, teamwork, and student success
- A committed follower of Jesus Christ who is passionate about ministry and discipleship
- ASE certifications, teaching experience, or workforce development experience preferred but not required
