Responsibilities- Lead educator in an integrated classroom for children with and without developmental delays as part of the Nisonger Center's full‑day Early Childhood Program.
- Plan and adapt curriculum for approximately 25% of classroom children with developmental delays or disabilities.
- Work closely with the Early Intervention team to review and plan pathways to achieve goals of each child’s Individualized Family Service Plan.
- Oversee, integrate and monitor progress of daily and long‑term planning to meet developmental and educational goals of all students.
- Assess children’s growth and development using the Assessment, Evaluation, and Programming System (AEPS) Curriculum.
- Communicate formal and informal assessment results and developmental progress to parents.
- Serve as child advocate to ensure all social, emotional, physical and educational needs are met in compliance with Nisonger Center policies and state licensing rules.
- Plan and execute daily classroom activities.
- Develop and write lesson plans to support cognitive, physical, emotional and social development of children in assigned group.
- Implement, evaluate and disseminate classroom programming, routines, policies and procedures.
- Conduct systematic data collection and evaluate program effectiveness.
- Prepare written summaries of curriculum and children’s daily educational experiences.
- Implement health, safety and security processes and procedures.
- Advise, instruct and supervise entry‑level teachers, teaching assistants and student employees in written plans and classroom behavior.
- Provide in‑service and pre‑service training for students.
- Evaluate knowledge and performance competencies of students.
- Participate in professional development activities and comply with continuing education requirements.
- Bachelor’s Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with a major in child development or education‑early & middle childhood.
- Master’s Degree or equivalent combination with a major in special education (desired).
- Developmental Specialist Certification preferred; 2 years of relevant experience required, 4–8 years preferred.
- Demonstrated classroom experience teaching children under 6 years, formal student‑teaching experience, or P‑3 certification required.
- Experience creating and implementing lesson plans required.
- Experience teaching children with developmental delays required.
- Current first‑aid, communicable‑diseases and child‑abuse recognition certifications or training within 120 days of hire required.
- All immunizations up to date.
- Successful completion of Bureau of Criminal Investigation and background checks.
- Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre‑employment physical including a drug screen.
