POSITION OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

This position serves as the liaison between Columbus City Schools Special Education Department and non-public school

providers, collaborating to ensure appropriate special education services for parentally placed students. The role is

responsible for developing IEPs, representing the district at IEP meetings, and monitoring student progress in compliance

with state and federal requirements. Additionally, the position oversees documentation and approvals through the SAFE

system for non-public providers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

The list below is intended to describe the essential duties performed by this position. This is not a complete listing of all

responsibilities and/or required duties. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

  • Support Special Education service delivery
  • Collaborate with scholarship and non-public providers
  • Serve as liaison between Columbus City Schools and non-public providers
  • Write Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Attend IEP meetings as the district representative
  • Conduct progress monitoring for students with disabilities who are parentally placed
  • Complete progress reporting for students with disabilities who are parentally placed
  • Monitor SAFE accounts for non-public schools, including document upload and approval
  • Collaborate with parents and service providers to ensure efficient and timely completion of IEP documentation
REQUIRED

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION LEVEL:
Bachelor’s degree in Special Education

Experience:

Five (5) or more years of successful teaching experience in a special education classroom or comparable

experience;



Licensure/Certification :

Possession of a valid Ohio teaching license issued by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (ODEW)

with certification as an Intervention Specialist, including Mild/Moderate (K–12), Moderate/Intensive (K–12),

Primary (P–5), or other appropriate special education licensure area.

Knowledge:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of Ohio Learning Standards and Ohio Learning Standards–Extended, and their application to instructional
  • programming.
  • Knowledge of special education policies, procedures, and legal requirements, including IDEA and related local, state,
  • and federal regulations.
  • Knowledge of effective behavior management strategies and positive behavioral interventions.
  • Knowledge of district initiatives, priorities, and expectations as communicated by the Office of Accelerated and
  • Extended Learning.
  • Knowledge of and experience implementing data-driven instructional practices, progress monitoring, and intervention
  • strategies to support student achievement and growth
Skills:

  • Skill in collecting, analyzing, and utilizing student performance data to inform instruction and interventions.
  • Skill in producing and maintaining accurate and timely special education documentation, including IEPs, ETRs, FBAs,
  • BIPs, progress reports, and related compliance materials.
  • Skill in implementing low tech communication strategies with fidelity and engaging in required professional
  • development to support implementation.
