Position: Long-Term Substitute Science Teacher (8/10/2026 - 10/21/2026)
Licensure: 4-9 Science Preferred;
Substitute Teaching License
Reports to: Principal
Employment Status: Substitute ESCCO
FLSA Status: Exempt
Salary: 1-10 days $150/day; 11-20 days $165/day; 21-60 days $190/day; >60 days BA Step 0 (same rate);

Description: Instruct students in science, serve as a role model, help students learn subject matter and skills, create an effective learning environment, and guide students toward curricular goals.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in education with an appropriate subject area from a four-year college or university
- Appropriate State of Ohio licensure
- Prior teaching experience
- Alternatives to the above may be considered by the Superintendent or Board of Education
- Knowledge of academic area and teaching methodology
- Basic knowledge of other subject matter
- Ability to work effectively with others and communicate ideas clearly, both orally and in writing
- Effective listening, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Record-keeping skills and classroom management skills
- Experience working with children and training in varied instructional design
- Computer and word-processing skills
- Ensure student safety
- Teach and evaluate students using sound instructional practices
- Manage classroom and student behavior
- Prepare clear, timely lesson plans and maintain accurate records
- Provide guidance to promote educational development
- Attend parent-teacher conferences and distribute assignments
- Assess student progress regularly
- Maintain classroom equipment and materials
- Follow state standards and instructional program sequence
- Collaborate with colleagues and attend required meetings and in-services
- Use instructional strategies that incorporate content standards
- Report attendance, health, or behavioral concerns to Principal or Guidance Counselor
- Conduct parent communication and present information to Superintendent or Board
- Act as teacher, facilitator, and mentor for new teachers when requested
- Assist in selection of textbooks, equipment, and educational materials
- Promote good public relations
- Supervise student teachers
- Respond to routine questions promptly
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Maintain professional competence through seminars and workshops
- Counsel, advise, encourage, and motivate students
- Computer, calculator, telephone, subject-specific equipment, printer, TV/DVD player, copy machine
- Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue
- Occasional interaction with unruly children
- Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds
- Frequent moving and operating equipment throughout school
