LocationChildren & Youth N. High Complex, 246 North High Street, Columbus, OH. Position is on‑site daily.
Location RequirementsCore hours Mon‑Fri, 8:00 am‑5:00 pm. Daily start/end times may vary with operational needs.
Job DescriptionThe role is instrumental in designing, developing, and delivering technology‑based training for a wide range of stakeholders.
Responsibilities include:
- Participate in all phases of technology‑based training: research, development, planning, instructional design, programming, implementation, and user testing. Analyze training needs, recommend performance improvements, and assess effectiveness.
- Design overall architecture, navigability, usability, and functionality for online courses or web pages that deliver training; create and integrate graphics, text, and interactive multimedia to support adult learning.
- Implement instructional interventions (computer‑based training, web‑based training, online testing and assessment, electronic discussion groups, podcasts, etc.). Coordinate technology‑based training, resolve learner issues, maintain schedule of annual updates, edit content, and deliver graphics for end products.
- Manage learning environment, use training equipment, provide feedback, design, develop, test, implement, and maintain electronic performance support systems. Select performance and training effectiveness measures, analyze results, design surveys, and revise instructional materials accordingly.
- Plan, schedule, and support department training events using various platforms. Develop content and facilitate webinars for internal and external audiences, provide ongoing training and technical assistance, attend professional conferences, and review vendor and DCY program materials for alignment with policies.
Completion of an undergraduate core program in education with student teaching or equivalent experience, plus:
- 2 years of training or experience in assessing, researching, designing, delivering instruction, and materials for adult learners;
- 2 years of training or experience with software or application systems for technology‑based training (e.g., Author ware, Articulate, Captivate, Course Mill, Dreamweaver, Lectora, Moodle);
- 18 months of training or experience with Microsoft Word or Word Perfect;
- 1 year of training or experience creating web pages using programming languages (HTML, DHTML, XML, JavaScript, CSS);
- 6 months of training or experience with web‑art manipulation programs (Fireworks, Shockwave, Flash, Photoshop);
- or equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.

Pay InformationStarting salary at step 1 of the salary range. New hires advance to the next step after 6 months and then annually. Step progression, hourly and annual rates are as follows:
- Step 1 – $38.01 / $79,061
- Step 2 – $39.86 / $82,909
- Step 3 – $41.81 / $86,965
- Step 4 – $43.90 / $91,312
- Step 5 – $46.00 / $95,680
- Step 6 – $48.28 / $100,422
- Step 7 – $50.66 / $105,373
- Step 8 – $53.13 / $110,510
- Step 9 – $55.80 / $116,064
