Make a real impact on the lives of Ohio students and their surrounding community as an Ohio College Guide Ameri Corps member. You will advise, mentor, and guide underserved Ohioans—first‑generation college‑going, low‑income, and minority students—in preparing for, accessing, and completing a postsecondary credential. The program serves 6th‑through‑12th graders with college and career exploration, financial education, and postsecondary transition support.
Responsibilities- Develop and deliver classroom‑based workshops using an online college planning tool, primarily to 8th graders and also to students in grades 6‑8, 9‑10, and 11‑12.
- Plan and promote college and career advising services and programs for students and parents.
- Collaborate with students, parents, counselors, principals, parent consultants, and community partners to ensure proper delivery of services.
- Assist students with all aspects of their college search, admission, and financial aid process, including ACT/SAT fee waivers, college application fee waivers, FAFSA and financial aid assistance, and grant processing.
- Enter data into IKIC’s PATH database to track progress and success of all activities.
- Develop advising, mentoring, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Living allowance of $30,000.
- Education award up to $6,495 upon completion of service.
- Deferred qualified student loans with potential interest payment by the Corporation of National and Community Service.

- Health coverage and childcare assistance (if eligible).
Program type:
Ameri Corps State / National. Host sites:
Canton, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Oberlin.
Full‑time commitment of 1,700 service hours over 11 months, starting in August 2023 (or 2026 depending on schedule).
Qualifications- College graduate required.
- Minimum age 20.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.
