Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in child development, early childhood education, elementary or secondary education, home economics (early childhood emphasis), elementary education, special education, or other fields appropriate to the position.

Child Development Facilities: education must be in child development, early childhood education, home economics (early childhood emphasis), elementary education, special education or other fields appropriate to the position to be filled such as directly related behavioral science.
Youth Facilities: education must be in youth development, youth administration, secondary education, home economics, physical education, elementary education, special education or other fields appropriate to the position to be filled such as directly related behavioral science.
School‑Age facilities: education must be in any of the fields above.

Option 1 – Combination of

Education and Experience

Education:

24 semester hours in the majors stated above or a related field, plus appropriate experience.

Experience:

Candidate must also possess all of the following:

12 months experience working in group programs with children/youth as well as demonstrated knowledge in theories and principals of child growth/youth development of which 6 months must be in a supervisory position.

The McCormick Credential.

Option 2 – Combination of

Education and Experience

Education:

24 semester hours in the majors stated above or a related field, plus appropriate experience.

Experience:

Candidate must also possess all of the following:

At least 12 months experience working in group programs with children/youth as well as demonstrated knowledge in theories and principals of child growth/youth development of which 12 months must be in a supervisory position.
