Position: State Support Team Consultant (Special Education) - Part Time

State Support Team Consultant (Special Education)

Part-time team member needed to train and coach district personnel towards effective approaches for special education service delivery, including inclusive instructional practices, multi-tiered systems of support, and compliance with state and federal regulations. The SST Consultant provides support to districts and schools to meet state and federal requirements, facilitates comprehensive needs assessments, supports research efforts, and assists in developing and implementing focused plans.

Primary position duties include providing professional development, coaching, and technical assistance on evidence-based instructional strategies, special education service delivery models, specially designed instruction for students with disabilities, disproportionality in special education, and other topics related to closing student achievement gaps. The role also involves providing implementation strategies and follow-up support to educational teams related to multi-tiered systems of support, collecting and documenting evidence of implementation and impact, and assisting in documenting the work of the State Support Team and analyzing district/regional data to determine ongoing support needs.

Qualifications include a master's degree in education, special education, early childhood education, education administration or appropriate related field, a minimum of three to five years of successful classroom teaching, instructional improvement planning and implementation, special education administration or related experience, and a license appropriate to the individual's profession. Candidates shall demonstrate knowledge in the main provisions of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), improvement planning processes, strategic problem-solving, implementation and monitoring of improvement strategies, delivery of high-quality professional learning and technical assistance, and expertise in specially designed instruction, data-based decision-making, evidence-based processes, IDEA compliance, coaching and consultation skills, and professional learning and technical assistance.

Valid Ohio teaching license and/or administrative license, experience as an administrator at district or building level, and experience developing and providing professional development, coaching, and technical assistance for adult learners are also required.
