Directions for Youth & Families (DFYF) provides mental-health, prevention, and education programs to meet the diverse needs of the community. Number of Openings: 1

• Use your passion and creativity to teach youth various musical instruments and vocal techniques
• Educate and instruct youth ages 8–18 in a fun, engaging, and supportive environment
• Develop music lesson plans and curriculum
• Lead rehearsals and coordinate musical performances
• Teach music theory concepts including rhythm, melody, harmony, timbre, form, texture, and dynamics
• Foster creativity, confidence, teamwork, and self-expression through music

Schedule: Monday
- Friday, 3:00 p.m.

- 8:00 p.m. during the school year; 8:00 a.m.

- 4:00 p.m. during Summer months

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Music preferred, or specialized music training
• Knowledge of various musical instruments including piano, percussion, vocals, guitar, and steel drums
• Strong understanding of music theory including rhythm, melody, harmony, timbre, form, texture, and dynamics
• Experience teaching music, leading rehearsals, and working with youth required
• Strong computer and organizational skills
• Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation

Directions for Youth & Families offers community-based mental health and prevention services that utilize a resiliency-oriented and trauma-informed framework. DFYF’s programs are divided into three categories:
Treatment, Prevention, and Education. DFYF offers specialized mental health, kindergarten readiness, after school, and summer programming to meet the diverse needs of our youth and family population. DFYF proudly serves over 8,500 youth, adults, and families each year. All of our programs strive to fulfill our mission to build and inspire hope, healing, and resilience for youth, families, and communities through counseling and education.
