What You’ll Do

Academic & Graduation Planning
  • Guide students through the transition to high school, including orientation, academic planning, and course selection.
  • Develop and monitor individualized four‑year graduation plans.
  • Track student progress toward graduation requirements and implement intervention strategies for students at risk of falling behind.
  • Collaborate with students, families, and school staff to support academic achievement and successful graduation.
College & Career Readiness
  • Provide comprehensive post‑secondary planning, including college, career, military, and workforce pathways.
  • Administer career interest and aptitude assessments.
  • Assist students and families with college admissions, financial aid, scholarships, and post‑secondary application processes.
  • Connect students with vocational, career, and community resources that support future success.
Student Support Services
  • Provide individual and group counseling focused on academic success, goal setting, attendance, organization, and social‑emotional development.
  • Serve as a first point of contact for students experiencing personal or academic challenges.
  • Facilitate referrals to appropriate school and community mental health or support services when needed.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive school culture that supports student well‑being.
Collaboration & Family Engagement
  • Partner with teachers, administrators, families, and community agencies to support student success.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding academic progress, graduation planning, and post‑secondary opportunities.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and student support planning.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in School Counseling or a related field preferred.
  • Valid state School Counselor license/certification preferred.
  • Experience working with secondary students in an educational setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of graduation requirements, college admissions, career planning, and financial aid processes.
  • Proficiency with student information systems, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and educational technology.
