The Salmon P. Chase Center is a multidisciplinary university center that conducts teaching, research, and public programming concerning the core texts and great debates of Western civilization; the principles, ideals, and institutions of the American and Ohio political order; and the foundations of responsible leadership and informed citizenship. It is an independent academic unit of the University. The Center is a leader of the growing cadre of similar centers of civic thought and leadership in Ohio and throughout the country.

* POSITION OVERVIEW:

** The Salmon P. Chase Center for Civics, Culture, and Society is conducting a search for a Faculty Affairs Specialist who will work closely with the Center’s Associate Director and Operations Manager to oversee the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the Center’s administrative practices related to faculty affairs. The Faculty Affairs Specialist will enable the Center’s continued growth as the flourishing academic community envisioned in ORC § 3335.39.

The Faculty Affairs Specialist, as with all members of the Center, should embrace the Center’s mission.
** Administration and Planning
*** The Faculty Affairs Specialist advances the Center’s mission and strategic objectives by overseeing administrative and planning activities related to the recruitment, appointment, and development of the Center’s faculty life cycle for tenure-track, clinical/teaching/practice, research, and associated faculty.
* The Faculty Affairs Specialist works closely with the Associate Director and Operations Manager to plan and execute the Center’s implementation of university systems, processes, and policies related to faculty recruitment, appointment, review, promotion and tenure, leaves, and other matters relevant to faculty employment.
* The Faculty Affairs Specialist acts as a liaison with OAA, the Office of Human Resources (OHR), senior leaders, faculty, external institutions, and other applicable units to provide support, evaluation, and guidance regarding faculty appointments, policies, procedures, and other matters relevant to faculty employment.
* The Faculty Affairs Specialist interprets university and Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) faculty rules, regulations, and policies to guide the Center’s decision making.
* The Faculty Affairs Specialist drafts contract, templates, letters, and correspondence on behalf of the Associate Director and coordinates related approvals and review.
