New Story Schools (OH) seeks a Special Education Paraprofessional to support students with autism and other special needs in a highly collaborative, student-centered environment. You will implement individualized, evidence-based academic and behavior plans, provide 1:1 and small-group support, assist with communication and life skills, and help maintain a safe, structured classroom. Working closely with teachers, therapists, and families, you'll collect data, assist with personal care as needed, and participate in ongoing training to grow in specialized education and behavioral health.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct classroom support to students with autism and other special needs under teacher/therapist direction
- Implement individualized education and behavior intervention plans using evidence-based strategies
- Assist with data collection on student academic, behavioral, and social progress
- Support functional communication, social skills, and daily living activities
- Help maintain a safe, structured, and sensory-supportive classroom environment
- Offer 1:1 and small-group support during instruction, transitions, and therapies
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to reinforce student goals
- Assist with de-escalation and crisis prevention using approved techniques
- Support personal care needs as appropriate with dignity and respect
- Participate in training and professional development to build special education skills
