Position Overview

Birch Agency is seeking a dedicated and engaging 6th Grade ELA Teacher to join one of our charter school partners in Columbus, Ohio for the upcoming school year. The ideal candidate will be passionate about literacy, student development, and creating an engaging classroom environment that supports academic growth.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned ELA instruction for 6th grade students.
  • Develop lesson plans that support reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and critical thinking skills.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and abilities.
  • Create a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Monitor student progress through assessments and use data to guide instruction.
  • Maintain accurate grades, attendance, and student records.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to support student success.
  • Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress and needs.
  • Maintain classroom management and establish clear expectations for student behavior.
  • Follow school policies, curriculum requirements, and Ohio educational standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, English, or a related field.
  • Valid Ohio teaching license/certification appropriate for the position.
  • Previous experience teaching ELA preferred.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learners.
  • Passion for helping middle school students develop strong literacy skills.
